Five Charter Academy Seniors Receive National Merit Recognition
The Coeur d’Alene Charter Academy is proud to announce that five of its forty seniors have earned recognition through the National Merit Scholarship Program.
Honors are awarded by outstanding performance on the PSAT exam, taken during the fall of the junior year. The top 1% of test takers in the state are named as semifinalists; students who score in the top 2% (but not in the top 1%) earn “Commended” status in recognition of their academic excellence.
Three Academy seniors achieved semifinalist recognition: Tate A. Burkholder, Ashlyn K. Craigie, and Madeleine M. Durkin. These students now have the opportunity to advance to the Finalist level through an extensive application process that includes an essay, letters of recommendation, and examination of
their academic record.
Congratulations!
The Coeur d’Alene Charter Academy is proud to announce that two seniors received NMSC Commendations: Skyler D. Gessner and Madilynne L. Strom. Principal Dan Nicklay praised these students for their achievements, saying, “We are very proud of these amazing students. They have worked so hard, and they deserve to be honored.” He went on to note that these five students comprise a disproportional percentage of the senior class: “…12.5% to be exact, which is twelve and a half times what a school our size would normally expect.”
Every child deserves a little Christmas! Donate an unwrapped toy for a deserving child in our community now through December 18th. Donation boxes are located in either building.
